Study in Singapore

Singapore has universities and specialist institutions with distinct admission, accreditation and Student's Pass requirements. Check whether the exact institution is on the current list for student work exemptions; the exemption does not apply to every student or school. Eligible graduates of specified institutions may apply for a Long-Term Visit Pass to seek employment, but this is not itself permission to work.

Common questions

Can every Singapore Student's Pass holder work part-time?

No. Work-pass exemptions apply only to qualifying students and institutions under current rules. For eligible students, the term-time limit is generally 16 hours per week. Check the live institution list and your conditions before working.

Can I stay in Singapore after graduation to look for work?

Eligible graduates from specified institutes of higher learning may apply for a Long-Term Visit Pass to seek employment. Eligibility is not universal, and the pass itself does not authorise employment.

Does a university admission guarantee a Student's Pass?

No. Admission and immigration permission are separate decisions. Follow the current Immigration and Checkpoints Authority process and provide the required documents.

Should I budget for part-time income?

No. Work exemptions are conditional and jobs are not guaranteed. Build a budget that covers tuition and living costs without assumed earnings.
